The report addresses key United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity objectives that aims to contribute to the achievements of CBD’s 2010 global targets. Apart from the CBD objectives, the Agro-Biodiversity Country Status Report also aims to address agricultural and environmental quality objectives within the frameworks outlined by regional groupings such as Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union and others in East and West Africa. The report provides an assessment of the status of agro-biodiversity in six CBDC Africa region partner countries – Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mali, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe to help provide tools for addressing the specific challenges related to agro-biodiversity conservation issues as well as environment, water and poverty.
