  •  Full Module 2: Conservation and Sustainable Use under the International Treaty
       Module 2 examines the provisions of the International Treaty dealing with conservation and sustainable use of crop diversity in detail and presents examples for their implementation. It highlights the importance of crop diversity for food security and shows the intrinsic link of conservation and sustainable use. The module provides technical aspects for learners with more of a political background in agriculture, and illustrates the legal framework of the International Treaty to learners that have more of a research and scientific background related to PGRFA.
  •  Lesson 1: What is Conservation and Sustainable Use?
       This lesson familiarizes learners with the technical background on conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA). It presents different ex situ and in situ conservation techniques and elaborates on the concept of sustainable use of crop diversity.
  •  Lesson 2: The Provisions of Articles 5 and 6 of the International Treaty
       The lesson explains the measures to promote conservation and sustainable use of crop diversity according to articles 5 and 6 of the International Treaty, illustrated with examples of projects supported by the Benefit-sharing Fund that focus on on-farm management and sustainable use.
  •  Lesson 4: Implementation of Articles 5 and 6 from a User's Perspective
       The lesson illustrates a range of options contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of crop diversity. Examples are brought together in the fictitious country of Develania where different stakeholders of the International Treaty guide learners through their activities.
